Broken Days

Above us, the clouds swirl not in anger but in slow and liquid motion. Having dumped their wrath, they now swim the heavens like great fish in a ivory sea.
The fourth storm has passed and through some miracle, I still live; though divided. On distant shores, my many selves cry out waiting to be whole once more.

That fateful night, some of us were thrown into the raging seas and the opposing currents tore us into many parts. Others were ravaged in the swells, though they survived, none could recognise their crumpled bodies. But most were swept to distant shores on the fleeting currents of much and sand, dumped in upon new lands fresh and sweet. There life would continue.

Woe are those that are now divided, our hearts washed to yonder shores. To others we once held close but are too far to reach. Hence we are torn between our loves on the many shores of many isles, to each one we owe our hearts but to each one we cannot even grasp.

For we are one people, pulled apart by the waves of discord and the foam of pride. On a multitude of shores we now live. Though alive, we are lonely and our hearts are spread across the vast ocean. The diaspora of the sanctuary shores, a tragedy that we shall never again meet in this dream.

For the sakes of old times, I will rig a raft of broken hopes and raise a sail of torn memories. And with this wreckage of a craft I sail into the aftermath of the midnight storm. For my journey has not yet ended, although its brightest days have since faded with the third sun.

For Auld Lang Syne, let us embrace each other once more.
