Riot games has added almost 100 stable champions but one more joins the league with new diverse design and skills. Even after Sejuani was released into League of Legends, another champion may contend as the best calvary master . Being 50% equine means Hecarim is adept in high mobility allowing him to excel in fighting. It is a pleasure to present this massive centaur: Hecarim, the Shadow of War.
Abilities:
Warpath (Passive) – Hecarim ignores unit collision and gains attack damage equal to a percentage of his bonus movement speed.
Having more attack damage means it will allow easier last hitting, the unit collision ignorance helps in mobility.
Hecarim’s bread and butter spell for damage. It has a low cooldown but the range of the rampage is quite short. Not sure if it procs on-hit effects such as slow but if it did it would be like Skarner’s crystal slash. If used for jungling, the jungle finish time will be quite fast.
Spirit of Dread - Hecarim deals magic damage to nearby enemies for a short duration. Hecarim gains health equal to a percentage of any damage those enemies suffer.
This skill could provide sustain in lane and jungling. One of the advantages of Hecarim is that he provides a lot of AoE damage might be viable in an AoE team comp (galio morgana etc.)
Devastating Charge - Hecarim gains increasing movement speed for a short duration. His next attack knocks the target back and deals additional physical damage based on the distance he has traveled since activating the ability.
Very interesting ability useful as a gap closer also provides a small crowd control effect knocking back similar to Maokai’s Arcane Smash.
Onslaught of Shadows (Ultimate) - Hecarim summons spectral riders and charges forward, dealing magic damage in a line. Hecarim creates a shockwave when he finishes his charge dealing additional magic damage to nearby enemies causing them to flee in terror.
Another skill you could use as a gap closer to catch enemies. The range is quite long and is able to jump through many walls making it also a great escape tool. The area of effect crowd control effect can peel off enemies away from your team for better position and the area of effect will do tons of damage to entire enemy team.
Hecarim Base stats from PBE
Health 535 (+95 ) Attack damage 56 (+3 ) Health regen 8 (+? ) Attack speed ? Mana 250 (+40 ) Armor 20 (+4 ) Mana regen 6.5 (+? ) Magic res 31 (+1.25 ) Range 125 Mov. speed 320
Renekton
Health 426 (+87 ) Attack damage 53.12 (+3.1 ) Health regen 6.7 (+0.75 ) Attack speed 0.665 (+2.65% ) Fury 100 (Manaless) Armor 15.2 (+3.8 ) Fury regen. N/A Magic res 30 (+1.25 ) Range 125 Mov. speed 320
Skarner
Health 440 (+96) Attack damage 54.1 (+4.2 ) Health regen 7.5 (+0.85 ) Attack speed 0.625 (+2.1% ) Mana 205 (+40 ) Armor 19 (+3.8 ) Mana regen 6.45 (+0.45 ) Magic res 30 (+1.25 ) Range 125 Mov. speed 320
Impressions: I had an examination of Renekton and Hecarim due to similar bread and butter skills and reveals Hecarim has higher base stats. This means Hecarim could be played as attack damage solo top lane. Currently not sure how much the spells cost so I could not compare with a mana-using solo top lane. He has sustain from his W so this also supports him being viable at solo top. TL;DR : Hecarim has higher stats then renekton and similar primary skill so could play as solo top lane.
Also reviewed Skarner stats in comparison to Hecarim. Hecarim only has one CC effect prior to level 6 which may make his ganking potential slightly weaker. But having similar attributes as Skarner in terms of aoe damage and sustain may allow him to clear jungles significantly fast. From the stats, the mana and mana regen are relatively similar so Hecarim may have similar damage output from rampage as Skarner with crystal slash. I still think he is viable in the jungle. TL;DR: Hecarim has fast clear times due to Q AoE damage and W for sustain. Also higher stats then skarner.
Skins:
Medieval Knight Hecarim
Default Hecarim
Shrouded Wraith Hecarim

I feel that he is a mix of a lot of things.
Physical and magic damage. Scale off movement speed. Flee element in his ult.
It'll fun to see how people build him.
